"This is a story about my grandparents' generation - people who were born in the early 1920s and came of age as the Second World War tore Europe apart. It's the story of a whole generation of young people whose hopes and dreams faded with the smoke of the explosions, and for whom their own became strangers, and strangers their own. It's a story about the choices you have to make when there are no choices, and about faith and love for your neighbour." Director Tanel Jonas
Our Class, a play by one of Poland's most famous playwrights, Tadeusz Słobodzianek, is based on historical events. It has been translated into numerous foreign languages and staged in Israel, Hungary, the United States, Italy, Canada, Sweden and the United Kingdom, among others. The play has won Poland's most prestigious literary award, Nike.
"My aim is not to be objective. I ask questions about the human condition - about people who lived in the midst of a tragic confluence of social, psychological, historical, religious and ideological relationships that led to crime, revenge and suffering." By Tadeusz Słobodzianek
