Torvald Helmer has a good life. No, even more. A good life? No ... more, better, more! Torvald Helmer's life is perfect. Just so. Ideal! And he has built it all himself. He has worked hard. He's worked hard to get to the day where he can say: my life is perfect. Because Torvald and Nora Helmer are a couple who have ‘it all’ - a great marriage, lovely kids, a cosy home. As Torvald says - Nora is beautiful. And as Nora says - Torvald has a good job, he just got a promotion. Soon, they and their three children will enter a new era of prosperity and abundance. Torvald Helmer is happy. Christmas is coming. The Christmas tree is big and beautiful, waiting for jewellery. Nora has bought the presents. It doesn't get any better than this! And just then - it will! An old friend enters, and then another. Even better! Even more fun! Even more perfect! What could be better than reminiscing and making new memories together in the Christmas spirit! Beauty! Joy!And just then - but.

The 1879 play “The Doll's House” by Norwegian dramatic classic Henrik Ibsen was a seminal moment in the history of theatre. Ibsen had tackled the spiritual violence usually confined to the home with unprecedented courage and candour. The Europe-wide controversy that accompanied the play's publication, for example, forced Ibsen to write an alternative ending for the German premiere, one that was more in keeping with Germans' sense of morality at the time. Today, of course, nobody uses it any more. But one thing is for sure: for 145 years, “A Doll's House” has been on the world's theatre schedules. At the Endiga, this masterpiece of world dramaturgy is being staged for the second time after a break of exactly 110 years.
