Prima Facie
Estonian Drama Theatre
We rarely hear about rape cases because reporting them can be devastating for victims – and the prospect of a fair trial can feel almost impossible. Criminal lawyer Tessa is ambitious, distinguished, and courageous. She has worked her way from a small town in England to the grand corridors of London’s courts, and now she shares her story with us.
Prima facie is a Latin expression meaning “at first sight” or “on the face of it”. But as a society, we could ask more, listen better, and look beyond what seems apparent.
The post-performance discussion (in Estonian) with the cast of Prima Facie will take place on 11th September at 21.00 in the B-side café of Estonian National Museum. The discussion will be moderated by Raili Marling, Professor of English Studies at the University of Tartu.
